Emerson’s Newest Nform Is One Trendy Tool
Emerson this week made significant changes to the trending and reporting capabilities of its Liebert Nform infrastructure monitoring software. The revved Nform is designed to offer a single view of what’s happening with all critical infrastructure, to fine tune data-center efficiency and head off potential problems before they affect performance or availability. The radically updated dashboard displays activity from any SNMP device as well as the new Liebert MPX and MPH rack power distribution units. Reports are available in a variety of charts and graphs to help deliver the data in ways that makes sense to different business units. This latest version of Nform also adds trending reports built from current and historical device performance data. Such reports can help admins understand the efficiency and capacity of their data center. These trend reports can be set to dynamically update at user-defined intervals or when specific events or alarms are triggered. “A small problem in a data center can quickly escalate into a disaster, said Anand Ekbote, vice presiden for Liebert monitoring at Emerson Network Power. “Knowing what is happening with power and cooling equipment can keep critical infrastructure systems at peak operating efficiency, which is vital to system reliability. “By utilizing a comprehensive approach to monitoring, Liebert Nform delivers the real-time data essential to maximizing critical system uptime given IT budget constraints and growing user demand.” As an additional benefit, Nform can increase UPS runtime by monitoring and shutting down non-critical equipment. |
