UPDATE: T-Mobile Investigating Alleged Hack
T-Mobile says it's aware of the alleged breach of its network security, as reported in an email to insecure.org over the weekend. In a statement to Channel Insider, T-Mobile said: "The protection of our customers' information, and the safety and security of our systems, is absolutely paramount at T-Mobile. Regarding the recent claim, we are fully investigating the matter. As is our standard practice, if there is any evidence that customer information has been compromised, we would inform those affected as soon as possible." Hackers wrote an email to insecure.org on Saturday claiming to have penetrated the wireless carrier's network. They claim to have access to copious amounts of operating data, customer databases and financial records. As evidence of the breach, the hackers provided a long list of T-Mobile servers. After the list was made public, several former T-Mobile network adminstrators commented to this and other blogs that the server names looked authentic. More updates to come as details emerge. |

Larry, Do you have any insight as to the methodology behind this attack? T-Mobile is no joke when it comes to NAC, and I am speaking from experience. How did they get in and, since it's been a little while, what exactly came of this? I never received any notification from T-Mobile that my data may have been at risk..

Unfortunately, no. At the time, we did contact T-Mobile, but they offered no explanation. They confirmed the attack and that the information posted on the full disclusre site was authentic. By the sounds of it, I would guess that it was an insider attack, but that again is purely speculative.
